A great amount of work was completed during the April 18th work party. Over seventy-five PCYC members, spouses, and their families contributed many man hours getting the facilities freshened up and ready for the upcoming season. The board and flag thanks you all for your efforts and donations of equipment for use during the work party. The flower committee got off to a great start preparing for the spring flowering. Watch again for “different” plant varieties in some of the areas. RC Todd Bickley and his wife, Bobbi served up a wonderful lunch that was enjoyed by all attending.

Download Brick Order FormLarge projects are taking place around the club. Stone is being placed along the north shore road to protect our new paved drive. We may inconvenience some of you as we proceed but it is necessary. Watch for dockside pedestal installation in early May as well. This will cause the electric and water to be off for a couple days. Don’t load up your refrigerators yet unless they can operate off the 12 volt system. This project will replace ten of the pedestals from dock 103 to dock 121. We plan to do the work with volunteer help and our caretaker Eric and his assistant Nick Ciacelli.
It has come to our attention that some of our newer members aren’t aware of the volunteer nature of PCYC. We only have two full time people. They are the head bartender and the caretaker/dockmaster. We have three part time bartenders and the caretaker has a part time assistant. The club manager position is part time as well. That’s it.
During the pool season we have numerous guards and attendants on staff as well as the learn-to-sail coaches. Every member is responsible to keep the grounds, lagoon, docks, bar and lounge, deck, kids room, pool and playground as they found it or bet- ter. The PCYC “working club ethic” has been operating for over one hundred years and has served us well.
The flower committee is hard at work and you will begin to notice the fruits of their labor during the month. Daffodils and tulips have come and gone, but much more is coming. Fred Pachasa and his charges began planning last summer and new mounds will be placed on either side of the entrance pillars with plants and redbud trees. New sand in the horseshoe pits came from the pool filter sand replacement. Over four thousand pounds of sand had to be removed and replaced. This will help the flow through the filter and improve water clarity.
In order to better utilize the lagoon for dockage, we have moved the jet ski docks throughout the lagoon. Dockage chair, Phillip Bolte will get with each renter to confirm your location. We will be full again this year and some new members will be placed temporarily on the front wall as we have done in the past. This causes our visiting boaters to be limited on space, but the priority has to be placed on our members and their need for space. We have a severe supply/demand issue when it comes to docks and we ask that any member who will not be using his dock for any reason to contact Eric so we can use it even if it is for a short time. This also applies to weekend trips and vacations.
Participation has grown throughout the month of April at our Friday night events. The new bar in the ballroom is beginning to serve as an overflow location and we are considering adding some stools for temporary seating. Stop by and enjoy the fun at your club with family and friends. It is the season of renewal.
