PCYC is in full summer mode and our little friends from the bottom of the lake have begun to invade. We have extinguished lighting around the club for the next few weeks, so be extra careful after dark. All the summer activities can be seen taking place around the club. Be sure to keep up on the events as there are many during the month of July. Start- ing off with the July 4th weekend there is a children’s party at the pool, a fishing derby in the lagoon, a BYOS and a gourmet burger night. The city fireworks are usually held on the 4th, however at press time we don’t have confirmation of that.
Centennial Bricks for SAIL!Choose your brick, print the form and bring your order to the club!
Download Brick Order FormThe ballroom ceiling project is ahead of schedule as of June 17th. We hope all will be completed by July 1. Thanks to all the people who contributed time and effort in this undertaking. Historians tell us that the old tile and grid had been in place since the building was put up in the early 1960’s. New lighting fixtures should reduce our power consumption by nearly 70%. Mike Crone, Jim Zipfel, Duane Snyder, and caretaker Eric Reynolds completed the wiring and installation of the light fixtures and new dimmer panel. New window treatments have been ordered for the ballroom and the kid’s room. Due to a one time factory pricing available from Young’s we were able to include the kid’s room at a small additional cost. Special thanks to Jim Geldien and clubhouse manager PC Chuck Reichman for spearheading that replacement project.
New member applications are coming in regularly. We have eclipsed our projection of memberships but there are still some openings. Be sure to bring your non-member friends around while the club is in full swing to show them all PCYC has to offer. The shuffle- board court, tennis court, horseshoe pit, basketball (albeit uneven)court, and the pools have all seen new members being active. Get your friends involved and be sure to show them the east beach that is home to special beach fires on weekend evenings.
The clubhouse has been extremely well used of late. The bartenders ask that I remind you all to clear your tables as you leave. We don’t have staff to clear those tables until late at night as they close. If we members police the area as we depart, it leaves the area clean for new patrons coming in. Thank you all for your help in keeping the lounge, bar, and deck tables cleared.
Members do provide invaluably to our club. Hal Hawk provided batteries for the golf cart, lawnmower, and sail fleet whaler this year. PC Rusty Jack, Dave Bringman, and Cliff Howell provide specialized equipment for various jobs around the club. Paul Thatcher, Mike Felter, and Bob Mosser have pressure washed and resealed the front boardwalk over the past few weeks. Mike Garber clears the tennis court and shuffleboard court when necessary. Bill Garber keeps the north shore bathrooms in order and clean as well. We are able to do so much more with our small staff due to the generosity of these members.
Come and enjoy, summer is too short to waste.
