This Place Is...

Wow, what a close out of a fun filled year. The image that is etched in my mind of our most recent Past Commodore Mike, (AKA Curly) dancing with our beautiful ladies to “I Gotta Feeling” by the Black Eyed Peas and Ari Eickerts’s singing of that special song at the Commodores’ Ball will not be forgotten for some time.

I would like to thank those of you who offered your well wishes and encouragement at the Change Of Watch. Knowing that our membership has the confidence in me to guide our club forward is very reassuring.

This year offers both opportunities and challenges. One of the on going concerns which continues to be a point of discussion at our club is maintaining a full membership. I applaud all of your hard work to attract new members, but continuing efforts are needed. As of mid December, our membership stands at 486 with no ap- plicants on our in town waiting list and 9 on our out of town list. As we typically lose 20 or so members this time of year, we have a cause for concern. I would like our members to reflect on our long-standing rule of maintaining a membership roster of 70% in town and 30% out of town. At this time, we are at our maximum capacity on out of town membership. Perhaps it is time to revisit this and make an adjustment, even if it is only for a specified period of time.

As usual, this is the time of the year where the planning of our social calendar takes place. I would like to thank Bob and Terri Mosser for stepping up as new members of the social committee. Please feel free to let them know, along with chairperson’s Don and Terry Rodwancy and committee members, Doug and Candy Shealy about any ideas you may have.
