A Soggy Mess

I was looking back through some old Jib Sheets looking for some inspiration for this month’s entry. I really didn’t find any! However, one of the things I did notice in my review, was that selecting a different title for each month’s entry is a relatively new thing. I could be wrong, but this could have been started when PC Cindy Bolte took over as our Jib Sheet editor. From what I could find, the title for many years was simply “Commodore’s Comments”. I’m sure it wouldn’t take a lot of analysis to figure out why I choose this month’s title!

By the time you get this, the 2011-2112 yearbook should be in the mail to you. We have kept many of the events that have been popular in the past and added a few new things in replacement for the lesser attended ones. As always, please get in touch with the social committee with any new ideas you may have.

Speaking of club events, if you haven’t been getting the reminders from Secretary Jim Widmer, please send him an email note. He can be reached at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . He usually sends out a brief email mid week with a reminder of upcoming events.

Past club member Denny Ladd will again be visiting our club for vessel safety checks. He will be here from June 4th through June 11th. A signup sheet is available at the bar. Times are 9:00AM until 6:00PM in half hour time slots. There is no charge for the inspection, so it’s a good time to have your boat inspected and get prepared for the upcoming boating season.

At one of our recent past board meetings, the board of trustees approved a rule change at the pool. Starting with the opening of the pool at the end of the month, alcoholic beverages purchased at the club bar and served in approved containers can be consumed in the pool enclosure. Please famil- iarize yourself with this change as well as all of our other pool rules so we can have another safe summer at our pool complex.

On May 20th, we will be hosting a New Members Welcome Party. There have been a number of new members that have joined our ranks this past year. Many of them have already gotten involved in club activities. As it has been said many times, “You get out of it what you put in it” and that is certainly true about this place. Please come by that evening and help us welcome them to our PCYC family.

And lastly, we will again start up our Bloody Mary Saturdays on the clubhouse deck at the end of the month. These have become very popular and the attendance has steadily increased since this was reintroduced a few years ago. If you would like to host one, please see PC Chuck for details.
