It has been a fun filled summer and as we move into September, activity around the club continues at a steady pace. This is especially true for the first part of the month when many of PCYC’s tradi- tional events take place.

Download Brick Order FormThis month’s activities all start with the Saturday “Funday/Dedication Day” feeder races to PCYC from North Cape Yacht Club and Sandusky Sailing Club. The 51st Green Island Race will take place the following day. Our club can be very proud in know- ing that this event has con- tinued as a solid tradition at PCYC and as a premier Western Lake Erie sailing event.
Speaking of traditions at the club, the always well attended Green Island Chicken BBQ will take place on the 3rd. I’m not sure if this has also been going on for 51 years. Maybe I should ask Chairman PC Jeff Warnicke if this indeed is the case. I’m not sure how old Jeff is, but if you do the math, he certainly could have been part of all of them. FYI to the committee when we replaced the pizza oven with a convection unit last month, we found the oar that is used to stir that special marinade. Now I know why the chicken is so good!
Port Clinton Yacht Club is filled with a very diverse membership. Craig and Ginny Ryland from the Columbus area, who joined the PCYC family in 2010, are part of that diverse group. For those of you that may not be aware, they recently set out on an extended boat trip known as the “Great Loop”. As I write this, they are cruising in Lake Michigan and are at Ludington. You can follow their trip at http:// mvbrowneyedgirl.blogsp ot.com/
A little known fact-Did you know that if you type “PCYC’s” in Microsoft Word, the spell checker wants to correct it to “Psycho’s”? Not sure what that means, but that’s what happens every time!
As the months wear on, I am running out of things to write about. All you need to do is look at the paragraph above and it becomes very evident.
And finally, Adrift is defined as “Floating free with the currents and tide, not under control”. Some times I feel that way around this place!
